Our recent experience with a BMW 328 serves as a testament to the significance of meticulous processes and unwavering commitment. It’s a story that reinforces the value of doing things right.

The decontamination process forms the foundation of any paint correction detail. Chemical decontamination is often sufficient for well-maintained vehicles, but there are times when the unexpected occurs. In these exceptional cases, a mechanical clay bar treatment becomes essential. This additional step, while adding time and expense, is pivotal for achieving outstanding results.

This BMW had a few panels harboring stubborn bonded contaminants, requiring the meticulous touch of a mechanical clay bar treatment. An ultra fine clay bar (white in color, Carpro) was not removing the left over contaminants efficiently prompting a switch to the green Carpro clay bar. As evidence by transfer of contaminants, the clay bar removed all left over tar and other contaminants from the lower parts and rear bumper parts close to the wheel well.

The steps in the process described above are not all encompassing. It is an illustration of the basic principles of paint decontamination with an aim of removing road film, iron and tar, and other fall outs. There are instances where other contaminants present warrant additional steps employing different medium of agitation and chemicals.
